Safe and Welcoming Neighbourhoods

Everyone deserves to live in a neighbourhood that is safe, welcoming, and well cared for. That means safer streets, school zones and pedestrian crossings, well-lit and well-maintained parks and public spaces, strong property standards, and practical traffic calming where it is needed. It also means working with community partners to find compassionate, practical responses to homelessness, addiction, and mental health.

Housing and Affordability

People should have the opportunity to find a home they can afford at every stage of life. We need more housing choices so young people can get into the market, renters can find stable long-term housing and seniors can downsize without leaving their community. We should also look for practical ways to make everyday life more affordable for families, seniors, and residents on fixed incomes.

Responsible Growth and Infrastructure

Merritton is growing, and our infrastructure needs to keep pace. We need to invest in the roads, sewers, drainage systems, parks and public infrastructure our neighbourhoods depend on, while making sure new development is supported by the services it requires. Growth should strengthen our community, address existing infrastructure needs and improve quality of life for the people who already call Merritton home.

Better Value for Taxpayers

With property taxes rising and household budgets already stretched, residents deserve to see real value for what they pay. City Hall needs to focus tax dollars on reliable core services and the infrastructure our neighbourhoods depend on, while carefully scrutinizing spending, reducing waste and duplication, and making sure programs are delivering results. Before asking taxpayers for more, we should make sure we are making the best use of what we already have.

A More Vibrant Merritton

Strong communities need great places to gather, play, walk, shop, and connect. We should strengthen our parks, trails, recreation facilities, tree canopy, public spaces, and commercial areas, while improving connections between our neighbourhoods and supporting local businesses. Thoughtful investments in our public spaces can strengthen our resilience to extreme weather and build on the character that makes our community unique.

Community-First Leadership

Good local government starts with listening and showing up. Residents deserve a councillor who returns calls and emails, follows through when problems arise, communicates openly about what is happening at City Hall, and gives people a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their neighbourhoods. I will work to make City Hall more responsive, accessible, and accountable to the people it serves.
